The idea to establish the Guar Kepah Archaeological Gallery was initiated by the Penang State Government through the Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), in collaboration with Universiti Sains Malaysia. The gallery aims to showcase various aspects of culture and heritage, while also preserving artefacts and historical findings. Construction of the gallery began in partnership with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) and was funded under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12). It was completed in May 2024.This project is part of a broader initiative to promote archaeological tourism in northern Malaysia, connecting significant heritage sites such as Fort Cornwallis, the Bujang Valley, and the Lenggong Valley.
